Justin Hancock
Justin is the founder and CEO of Poplar Swamp Forestry LLC. He graduated from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College with his Associates Degree in Forestry in 1999. In 2002, Justin earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Forest Resource Management from Virginia Tech. Justin has over 25 years of experience in the forestry field- all spanning a variety of forestry practices. Justin's forestry experience has been built through employment with Newport News Water Works, the Wintergreen Nature Foundation, the Virginia Department of Forestry (across 5 Virginia counties), Pine View Forestry, and now, Poplar Swamp Forestry.
Justin has his VDACS certified pesticides applicator license, is a Virginia Certified Prescribed Burn Manager, is a member of the Society of American Foresters, and is registered with the Virginia Department of Forestry. Justin volunteers on various committees at his children's school and has spent many summers as a counselor for SWCD's Youth Conservation Camp. Justin's hobbies include hunting, surfing, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
Justin's business philosophy is to treat landowners and their timberland as if their land was his own.
